Seven Ages of Love
1.
sweet spurts of stupefaction
fountains of faithful milk
hard/soft nipple anchorage

2.
toes curl around the tightrope
hands outstretched wide for balance
safety net of waiting arms

3.
bones soften and liquefy
at the caught glimpse of your back
soft sweep of your whispered name

4.
reckless leap of promises
over the edge of the cliff
gripping one-anothers’ hands

5.
the circle is completed
in that moment when you shield
their small body with your own

6.
old friends, comforting slippers
worth far more than paid up cheques
cash dividend of a life

7.
silently it soaks away
as water poured onto sand
life itself loved best of all
