Volcanoes Lose Patience

The first crack and tons
of exploding exhaustion defy
high-flying ambitions.
That’s a fact.

There was no intent to destroy
villages but why
do they build so close?

How many Pompeiis does it take
to prevent such disasters?
Those white-coated rock-hard
too-busy-to-stop
anthropological subjects
send explicit warnings.

Why don’t villagers simply score the pie
and let pending gases out?
