The bones
had lain there for years.
a Seismosaurus surprised
by the size of its feet, its teeth and at eye level to the
ground
lay there speculating on the hill before it.
One could tell
it was amazed that anything
so small could have resisted
its fall, those many late
Jurassic years ago.
Were these bones
the evidence of 25 tons
or something four times that size? Was this
a vastly over-rated molehill or a mountain
that couldn’t
make up its mind?
With all the sharpness
and individuality that we have come to expect of her, Lynn
Fullington discusses the dire situation facing fossils in
our modern age.
