The Poetry of Chess
Where I used to write poetry, now I play chess,
but the difference is hardly resounding;
as a rule I end up in a horrible mess,
with my ego receiving a pounding.
So why, you might ask, am I writing some verse?
I intend it to be prophylactic.
Quite resigned to my fate, I’ve no need to rehearse
an excuse for my opening tactic.
