Ivan Terence Sanderson, a founding figure of cryptozoology, worked during World War II for British Naval Intelligence in charge of counter-espionage in the Caribbean, then for the British Security Coordination.

According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, in 1839 Charles Baudelaire contracted the venereal disease that would eventually kill him, probably from a prostitute he celebrated in some of his most affecting early poems.

often applaud,

even if some of us                            
underappreciate            
how much depended on
Baudelaire’s bawd.
