THE TERRIFIC CHOIR OF A HUNDRED
YOUNG COCKY CROWS

two magpie compete
for sound territory with the terrific
choir of a hundred
young cocky crows

can't you just hear them all

two blue jays smear
the nearly stark audience of trees
grabbing attention from the black
feather racket

fall gold fall yellow
all falls to the ground

cellos in autumn
this is more human
slow melancholy pull of the bow
the death of another season
the branch and bare arrow

target the heart

the noise of a galleon of crows
blown across the fathoms of prairie field

the nag of nostalgia
