The Divorce

does the wonder of marriage burst
or does it leak out a little at a time
until it isn't wonder anymore
just a daily grey togetherness
brightened with occasional glints
of wonders past...
surely those glints are the glues
that hold some marriages together
dimming the grey while
expectations abate...
if only one could
stitch those glints together
into a shiny new fabric or...
perhaps a sheenless metallic
to wear through the years
heavy but serviceable  -
child proof!
