Lawn Chairs

Whenever I buy lawn chairs to sit in the summer sun,
I never buy four, I only buy one, I never buy more.

I am of solitary stock, and I set the limits of my days,
what I get, without false regret, is my solitary ways.

I need no one to joke with, or to have a glass to say--
here's to here and after. Or to listen to my laughter.

I would rather be alone in this lawn chair that I own.
