Giving Up the Ghost

Decades hung inside her wardrobe
Jackie O style shifts in sixties crimplene
a coat of camel hair, pair after pair
of navy slacks still hanging on yet glad to go
without a fuss

to slip from hangers and from sight
into the waiting darkness of black bin bags
with just the faintest
sigh.
