Last Wish

Twenty years, almost
nursing mild angina, gall stones,
chronic old age and moderate
to severe hypochondria,
reliant on home helps and family
for everything except naps and crochet

then in the geriatric ward
speaking from her wheel chair
she said she had to go
home - wherever that was -
because she needed to be doing,
to be scrubbing floors again.
