Two Double Amphibrachs for the Arab Spring

I. Libya

Though Colonel Gadaffi
Was finally captured
By rebel militia,
He’ll never be tried.

He suffered an hour’s
Dehumanisation,
And after this process,
Or during it, died.

 
II. Syria

‘The Arab League doesn’t
Contain any Arabs!’
Cried Bashar al-Assad
When hung out to dry.

His faculties must have
Deteriorated
To reckon that tactic
Worth even a try.
