Plum

Plum,
as in plush.
Plum,
as in plump.

Thump.
The thump a plum makes
when it drops, oozing,
fat, to ground.

Thump.
As in plumping
a cushion.

Thump.

As in the firm plum
of my heart
pumping
its way through
my days.

Rise:  A celebration of life, after fortunately surviving serious ovarian cancer.
"The poems move lightly, accurately, staying no longer than they need to, finding what they need for life even on difficult ground" Philip Gross.
The poems lightly trace some of the journey through cancer, move through a series of poems about wildlife, and two sequences- one about a fictional child called Nuala, the other about a street called Almond St, ending with poems of joy.
