Continuity
She feels
like the forger
of an old
delft plate
who's chipping
its edge
knowing
that the pursuit
of perfection
has almost
been lost
to the near
impossibility
that something
so brittle
could survive
unscathed.

Note: Delft is made from tin-glazed earthenware, which is
brittle and vulnerable to chipping. Early examples were mostly
utilitarian wares, imitating more fashionable and expensive
Chinese imports, but occasionally in the form of a punch bowl,
posit pot or charger, with wildlife or Adam and Eve gaily
painted on their surface, great art was achieved. A few chips
are accepted by collectors, as pieces in perfect condition are
extremely rare.
