Callings
The farmer becomes the earth,
the woodsman becomes the tree,
the baby becomes the birth,
the sailor becomes the sea.
The hunter becomes the beast,
the preacher becomes the rock,
the chef becomes the feast,
the shepherd becomes the flock.
The poet becomes the eye,
the child becomes the sun,
the policeman becomes the spy,
the soldier becomes the gun.
The postman becomes the day,
the thief becomes the night,
the teacher becomes the clay,
the pilot becomes the flight.
The father becomes the life,
the son becomes the groom,
the daughter becomes the wife,
the mother becomes the womb.
