Real
Time
It’s not
measured
in jiffies or Plancks
sand grains or seconds,
the sun’s shadow
or moon’s
flux.
It’s hidden
in the incremental
evolution of trilobites,
the correlation of diatoms,
morphology of foraminifera,
growth of tree rings and sea shells,
erosion of rocks and the bedding of strata,
accumulation of isotopes in the interstices of ice
the rise and fall of mountains and sea levels,
expansion and recession of glaciers,
wax and wane of forest and desert,
the recurrence of comets,
reversal of poles,
in half-lives,
decay rates,
α, β and γ
emissions.
