Spoiler
Alert
Reading ahead
to see who done it.
Fast forwarding
to see who survived.
That’s me —
intolerant of suspense.
Don’t spoil the story!
Some insist
raising hands
to shield their eyes.
While I argue
nothing is ruined.
Death and broken heart
are easier to accept
with the ending known.
I can stop worrying,
appreciate nuance,
heightened emotion,
admire how smoothly
the narrative swims
to its final shore.
And traveling closer
to my own last page,
I am more conscious
of each chapter,
how each sentence flows
in a story that won’t be told
any other way.
