Cave
Leaves fall on fire and I am in your song
of tenderness and death, of love and gore.
Voices bait my soul and all are yours;
daunting, soothing, each cries that I belong.
I’m your initiate, unknown to you
I’ve come to learn my heart you are revealing.
I eat you up and find I have a feeling
of being swallowed myself: I’m eaten too.
Rapt I crawl into you like your name.
Man, Creature, God, I come into your world
animal, a hungry spellbound girl,
my neck bared for a kiss, a kill, a claim.
