General Hospital Blues
Written while in Royal Edinburgh Hospital
Hold onto a sound that surrounds you
Stand still until I've found you
Keep yourself together; it's only bad weather
Feel the waves that confound you
Stare across the sky until you've found me
Now you're the one who is around me
And I should keep myself together
It's only bad weather
I see sadness wherever I go
It's painted on every face
like tears that are wrapped with a bow,
like fists that are trapped in a foe
I see the weather in their eyes,
but we keep together 'cause we're kind
They're doing the best they can,
but I'm still not sure I know who I am
They're doing their best for someone like me,
but it feels like my medication takes a dose of me
And I should keep myself together
It's only bad weather
Pretty soon, I'll be out of here
Pretty soon, I'll be out of here
Hold onto a sound that surrounds you
Hold onto me as I shape my world around you
Keep yourself together; it's only bad weather
Feel the tears that shall drown you
Stare across the sky until you've found me
Now you're the one who is around me
Pretty soon, I'll be out of here
Pretty soon, I'll be out of here
