The Wife of Ba***t*h
Pamela Anderson says she’s on
the hunt for husband number six

Welcome the sixte, whan that evere he shal!
Chaucer, The Wife of Bath’s
Prologue c. 1390
A good wife was there of beside LA,
Never a lifeguard till she watched the Bay,
But then she shaped up better, honestly,
Than any other lifeguard on TV.
In youth, her swimsuit had no frills or flounces;
I’d dare to swear it didn’t weigh ten ounces;
As to her skirts, shirts, trousers, socks, and shoes,
She never wore them, so we have no clues.
Meanwhile, how many charities she backed
For creatures contra whom the decks were stacked!
For cannabis as well she did her best,
And stayed environmentally abreast.
In later years she kept her old appeal
(The print, you well might say, of Venus’ seal),
And welcomed cheerfully another stage
Of pioneering on love’s pilgrimage.
Her mission should succeed – I think it must:
She’ll do that ancient dance again, or bust.
