Old Bones
Our life is a day in the sun,
a day in a house out of town, by the sea.
How do we spend it? Enjoy it - explore -
the old bones of the earth;
Fix something that’s broken,
the old bones of the house;
Plant something that others will like,
leave it better than it was before.
Have a swim in the sea to relax,
talk, and share a nice meal;
watch the sun set, and the stars come out,
and the soft, thick dark come on
and wrap round our bones,
for the dark is a friend to old bones.
To old bones in the dark.
