dash
A Sonnet for Nobody

Nobody has grabbed me by the hand
And steered me through this maze of cheer and tears.
Nobody has strolled the sea-kissed sand
Delighting me with plans for rolling years.
Nobody has offered me the Earth
Then tossed the moon and Mars in with a lick
Of stardust just to let me know I’m worth
The gems of Heaven. Nobody is quick
To melt my frost with lips that vow to never
Freeze my dreams and leave my bed sheets cold.
Nobody has promised me forever
Sung in silver whispers laced with gold.
Nobody is valiant and just –
That’s why I’ve chosen Nobody to trust.
