Everything, Everywhere, All At Once
would be good news
if only it meant
fulfilment, happiness,
in a rush, heaven-sent –
but experience proves
that what comes around
in a huddle, is horror
and the approaching sound
of gunfire and bombs,
with famine and death
and leaders who’ve modelled
their style on Macbeth –
divorce and disease,
bankruptcy, guilt
in tsunami waves –
seawater, then silt . . .
But chin up – remember
a stiff upper lip
is a must even after
life’s lonely trip.
