Monstrous  Thoughts

I am the monster risen from your mind,
The giant worm inhabiting your brain.
I am the creature you will never find,
The presence that you cannot quite explain.

Your faulty senses fix on logs or wakes
And fashion me, to trigger hope or fear;
That freezing loch is full of frauds and fakes
Which bubble up, then quietly disappear.

They swell the tourist trade, which draws no few
From foreign lands, and Euros, dollars, yen.
So, humans, still believe my legend true
And claim to see me every now and then!
