Two Roman Emperors

Augustus
Augustus spread his statues far and wide.
His buff and youthful effigies succeeded
as emblems that his empire would abide
perpetually. They never aged. But he did.

Tiberius
Tiberius
was not joking but serious
when he told his mother Livia
not to bother him with advice, visits, or other trivia.
