Pathetically Empathic
Outside on the communal pavement of humanity
it’s another brush with a life for my crown of feathers.
I watch you trip and fall to graze my knee.
I smell your shame like a nosebleed.
I blink your disappointment cutting my eye like a lash.
I am frozen by your embarrassment leaking from my bladder.
Please. Turn yourself away.
It hurts me more than you know.
