Dawn
I couldn’t sleep
although so tired
I stumble over
every word
as I write this
watching the trees
lined up for prayer
upon their knees
if I could join
their supplication
we’d make a powerful
delegation
and birds would sing
and flowers would bloom
spreading their incense
like perfume
and then the world
could start again –
if only here
on our terrain.
