Unruly Royal Member

A prince (now preceded by Ex)
Whose conduct can only perplex
   Embraced a connection
   Which cost him rejection
And the chance, though remote, to be Rex.

Dual Purpose Designs

An artist exclaimed, “What’s the use?
My prints are a prey to abuse,
   As I’m saddened to find
   In the popular mind
Etching’s linked with attempts to seduce!”

A Call For Better County Lines

“The Devonshire landscape has produced more
bad poetry, perhaps than any other in England . . . “
        – W.G. Hoskins  Devon. 1954

The shire, though large, lush, atmospheric,
Was labelled dull by Robert Herrick
And, later, Hoskins claimed the flood
Of verse inspired there pretty dud
Not tasting of the true Pierian
But, beverages, alas, small beerian.

So, time to set to work and cleanse
The place from slurs like these with pens
Which delve in deep poetic mines
Until the name of Devon shines!
