Bitten by poetry?
You’d better take care.
Do you recall what kind it was, and where
it came from? Did it set you all a-tremble?
Describe it. Tell us – what did it resemble?
All you can do is try to write the same?
Sorry. No cure. I’d scare you with its name –
Carry on writing. You’ll not be selected.
Editors won’t let readers get infected.
You hoped that one day kids in school would learn it?
No chance. The moment that you’re dead, we’ll burn it.

Fragments
Found in the ground, they tease imagination
to construct what, perhaps, never existed –
aided by media’s fractured presentation
authority successfully insisted
specific instances were isolated
broke up big pictures into tiny pieces
so you’d forget and think them unrelated
ignored or vilified those with the thesis
that if you looked, you’d find a single cause
behind all those who make war and break laws.

Escher

The way up and the way down are the same
I say in Escher’s not in Eliot’s name
without a metaphysical intention
but celebrating a sublime suspension
whose imitation of a third dimension
lets figures move but stay in the same place
which is the art of art in all its grace
