A Midlife Crisis
At 50, I knew the will of heaven
Confucius
He asks for a divorce
a midlife crisis raging
it struck him with full force
and can’t accept he’s aging.
A midlife crisis raging
he dyed his thinning hair
and can’t accept he’s aging
now critiques my derrière.
He dyed his thinning hair
runs daily through the park
now critiques my derrière
and prowls off like a shark.
Runs daily through the park
his eyes fixed on the scales
he prowls off like a shark
while stalking lazy whales.
His eyes fixed on the scales
he squeezes into jeans
while stalking lazy whales
and posts his life on screens.
He squeezes into jeans
and boldly he parades
he posts his life on screens
his vanity prevails.
And boldly he parades
he asks for a divorce
his vanity prevails
it struck him with full force.
He asks for a divorce
a midlife crisis raging
it struck him with full force
and still denies he’s aging.
