
Perhaps
Perhaps one day, you will be standing on a cliff
with mighty crashing waves a hundred feet below;
or in a wood with sunlight filtering through
the green-leafed canopy above your head;
or walking on a windswept purple moor
with springing heather, furze, and glowing gorse…
And then, perhaps your heavy heart will lighten,
your breathing calm, and peace coming dropping slow
from the morning’s veil and midnight’s glimmer...
And then, at last, you will perhaps feel whole.
