Another Scientist

              in the Canadian Government
Department of Fisheries, improvised
an ingenious method
for a non-swimmer to cross
a stream that is deeper than the height
of the non-swimmer.
As with many brilliant solutions,
it was simple.
This ordinary looking genius discovered
that by carrying a heavy rock
under each arm
while holding his breath,
he could walk along the bottom
of the stream or river
to the other side.
This method is not recommended for people
with emphysema or other lung afflictions,
nor is it recommended for very
wide rivers and streams.
